Yet another teenage romance movie to make you believe in love

Here is to another classic teenage romance movie for the win! Although it is a cliche romance, the movie Sierra Burgess Is A Loser has a teenage modern twist to it, with their lives revolving around their phones. Sierra (Shannon Purser) struggles with confidence and relationships throughout the film, whether it is with her best friend or with some guy she has never met.

Unlike most teen drama actors, Shannon Purser fits her characters look. The actor has qualities like most high school students do. She also gets bullied for her weight and the way she looks. Being on the heavier side and not having the slimmer body like the popular girls at her school causes Sierra to lose self confidence in herself throughout the film. When she decides to be brave and face her fears, she becomes friends with someone you would not expect. Their relationship turns from hating to loving each other after facing all the obstacles they tackled together.

Like all love stories begin, Sierra meets a guy named Jamey (Noah Centenio) but they meet in an unfortunate way that will complicate their lives. Their relationship is created over the phone as they text and call each other throughout the movie. Sierra misleads this guy by convincing him that she was the same girl that he liked. She tricked him until the end of the movie where he had to decide if he felt the same way about her after the truth was revealed.

While Sierra has issues of her own, so do the people around her. They all look to her for help and eventually it all gets to be too much for her to handle. Sierra decides to get back up on her feet after she did something out of her character that hurt the people around her. She ends up excelling at what she loves to do the most. What she creates helps rekindle the relationships she broke.

Overall the plot of the movie was good, but there was a few things that could have been explained a bit more. Such as, Sierra meeting with her adviser and why it was so important for her to have experiences for her college essay. There was no explanation to why she wanted to go school that requires a unique essay, or whether or not she used her experience to her advantage in her essay. As the movie progressed, it seemed as if Sierra was the antagonist towards herself and others.
