The Hurricanes are Bringing Storms to Arenas

The Carolina Hurricanes were first established in 1972. Their home rink is the PNC arena where they have most of their success. Fans at the arena really keep the player up and running with tons of expectation but with a lot of support.

The Carolina Hurricanes have come a long way from where they once were. They were once the worst team in the metropolitan division and were called the Whalers. After an organization change they became a 2006 Stanley cup champion. However afterwards the team has not been able to reach the same level of success. But recently there has been an increase in fan attendance due to the new records and accomplishments.

The season has been such a fun adventure as the team is fighting for a spot in playoffs. We are 4 points away meaning we need to win the next few games and other teams will have to lose some. This year the team has had the most support from fans and sponsors. Over the last 16 home games and they have been nothing but fun and lots of excitement. Fans have tons of traditions including fan club, tailgating and chants which have been taken to a whole different level after the last winning season.

At the last home game against the New Jersey Devils, the arena was out filling almost 20,000 seats. The beginning video show was one of the best parts with the team story and strobe lights, that was the start to the very loud crowd. Fans were rowdy all night. Having the band, games, free t shirts and loud chants really got the fans hyped up creating a great time for everyone. This game was going to be an intense game because the last time the Canes played the Devils a nasty hit was taken on Hurricanes defensive player Dougie Hamilton causing a tear in his ligaments and breaking multiple bones in his leg. According to Sebastian Aho this was going to be a “very physical night”, which it was. A lot of fighting took place throughout the game. The score throughout the game went back and forth but the Canes found a way to pull out the win. After winning that game they received two points for the metropolitan playoff standings, allowing them to place in the wild card ranking.

In conclusion these games are really fun to attend even if you are not into hockey.
