Men's Soccer comes out on top despite last year's losses

This season the Northern Men’s Soccer team is undefeated with a record of 11-1-0 as well as leading their conference, Soccer is a very competitive game, it is considered the most popular sport in the world, and people love the game.

Unprofessional or professional alike play the game every day, it is just that type of fun that people love. This years Men’s soccer team has been extremely successful mostly throughout the season.

“We go into every game with a winning mentality,” junior Faustino Chavez said.

This year the soccer team has improved, but last season they did not get as far in the playoffs and they lost in the first round against Gray’s Creek, with a score of 4-2. They had a good season but the games that were most

important in the playoffs ended with a loss.

“I did alright but I [could have] done better,” junior Davis Brock said.

Individually, and as a whole, the team last season did not play their full potential. All 11 players have to contribute to win a game, and it is working well this year.

If a player messes up it can cost the team a goal, so the team puts in their best effort when they go on the field for games and practices. The soccer team had some ups and downs, but despite that they have had a great season so far.

“We worked hard all year and kept the possession of the ball,” Chavez said.

There are two soccer teams for Northern high school. There is a junior varsity and a varsity team. Junior varsity mostly consist of freshmen and sophomores, while juniors and seniors are on varsity. However, there are a few freshmen and sophomores that get moved up.

“I [have] scored [in] most of the games I played,” Brock said.

They did not work together last season but this season they strived and worked hard to have a good record and to be team players. this season they have made a good comeback from last season.
