Rapper vs. Rapper: Two artists with similar styles, but only one can prevail
Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) are two well known artists in the music industry. With such popular rappers there is bound to be conflict in the entertainment business.
As we all know, Eminem is known as the ‘’Rap God,’’ he even named one of his songs ‘’Rap God’’ which signifies his talent. Although this is what he calls himself, what makes him a better artist overall if he disappeared for six whole years without a trace? To me that shows fear, failure, and immaturity.
During the six years he was gone, he had time to write rebuttals and disses for MGK’s comment about his daughter, Hailie Jade. I do not think Eminem needed six years to write it, because if you are claimed to be a Rap God then you should have addressed the issued right then and there with your raps immediately.
MGK wrote a tweet to Jade saying, ‘’Ok so I just saw a picture of [Hailie Jade]… and I have to say, she is hot as f***, in the most respectful way possible [because Eminem] is king.’’
At this time Jade was only 16 years old, and MGK was 22. That is wrong in terms of age difference and disrespecting his favorite rapper.
Eminem banned MGK off his radio station and said to him in his song, ‘’I heard your freestyle on Shade 45 (Eminem’s Radio Station), that sh** was embarrassing. There is no way we [would] ever air that sh** again. I guarantee that [is something] we [would never] dare re-air.’’ Basically saying to MGK that he does not deserve to be on his station.
Now with the new rap songs that came out, MGK stated in one verse that Eminem could not take a joke about his daughter, it makes me wonder how would he feel if 46 year old Eminem talked sexually about MGK’s ten year old daughter. I am not saying either dad is a bad parent, but what I am saying is to be careful of what you say because your child could be harmed by what you do physically, socially and mentally.
Although I know both rappers by their music, I prefer Eminem’s personality and character. He shows traits of a better father by sticking up for his daughter when it is necessary. I do not remember any time where MGK potraiting any father figure like traits in the media. So overall I think Eminem is a better person as person and a father.
