Students use Remind to help them keep track of classwork
Forgot you had to finish your study guide? Forgot to do the homework last night? Forgot to apply to a college? No need to worry, because the senior Remind app helps you remember.
“Its a good idea to have [the remind app] so seniors who do not get to see the announcements,” senior Kyla Watson said. “You can receive senior information by looking at the reminders.”
The remind app is a free app that allows you to stay in touch with your teachers and keep up with your homework. It also allows teachers to remind you of upcoming tests. Remind was founded by brothers Brett and David Kopf to help combat the communication gap in education. Brett was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Dyslexia when he was a teenager. David decided to make a system that the school could use to remind Brett of an upcoming test.

“The app is great for helping students keep track of classwork and it helps when I need to
remember what to do for my homework,” junior Will Lockwood said. “[It is] also good for parents to keep track of their kids upcoming events.”
Messages can be sent immediately to anybody in a given class, to any type of phone and can be translated into 70 different languages.
“The Remind app in relation to helping my success at Northern High School is pointless, I can just ask the teacher if I [do not] know what the assignment is,” junior Zack Terwilliger said.
The app has been up and running since 2011 and has only grown since then. In September of 2014, the Kopf brothers raised over 40 million dollars, and has 20 million monthly users around the world.
“[The remind app] helps the parents and students know about what work they have,” freshman Colby Nichting said. “It will keep the parents informed and updated.”
