Blueface’s popularity started with the relentless memes of his song “Respect My Crypn”, from there the jokes turned into serious adoration for his music. Now his most recent hit song “Thotiana” has entered the Billboard Top Ten Rap charts as of the month of February. A lot of the songs popularity can be attributed to viral video challenge that followed the songs release. The impact of the internet has greatly given to his career more than many care to realize. Blueface has capitalized off this success by being light-hearted and even participating in the jokes about his music.
Not only Blueface, but many musicians that have currently popped have utilized the pull of social media. All have done a good job at cultivating an audience through the use of the internet. Tekashi 6ix9ine’s masterful use of internet trolling to Bobby Shmurda being able to gain a cult following even though his jail sentence. Social media has the power to jumpstart careers and even sustain them. Blueface has a style of his own, and if he maneuvers correctly he has the ability to thrive in the rap industry.
