Grace Sorrell has made a huge impact on her school and her peers

Grace Sorrell is one of the most active seniors in Northern’s learning community. As student body president she is able to give Northern students a voice. Sorrell is not only an AB honor roll student, but also participates actively in many clubs and student organizations such as National Honor Society, Student Council, and the Superintendent’s Advisory Board. She has also been on the yearbook staff since her junior year, obtaining the role of editor senior year. Sorrell will be attending Wofford College in the fall. While attending Wofford college she will be majoring in political science hoping to one day have a career in political campaigning

“Being involved in so much has allowed me to figure out what I am truly interested [in] outside of school,” senior Grace Sorrell said. “It has also taught me how to manage my studies which will prepare me for college.”

Sorrell walks around campus with a smile on her face and is always ready to lend a hand to students when needed.

“Grace has always been there when you need her,” senior Brynne Clayton said. “She has always found a way to make me feel better.”

Being involved in many roles around Northern has allowed Sorrell to lead by example and many younger students have looked up to her as a role model.

“Grace has helped me to become more of a leader in my school,” junior Tanner Horton said. “She has helped introduce me to a new group of people including Student Council.”

Being the student body president Sorrell has allowed the seniors and even the underclassmen to have a say in what goes on in and out of school, she spends her time to better the environment at Northern.

“[Sorrell] is one of the main leaders at Northern and has given the student body a voice,” senior Mackenzie Gibson said. “I am very proud in what she has been able to accomplish in her four years in school.”

To some a positive morale and personality is what can contribute to a healthy learning environment.

“[Sorrell] is so down to earth and is a huge supporter in school,” senior Isaiah Parker said. “She has been there for me no matter what and would do the same for any student at Northern.’’

High school can be difficult, rigorous, and exciting for many students, but it is also very rewarding in terms of the future possibilities.

“One thing that I would tell the incoming freshmen is to be actively involved in school,” senior Grace Sorrell said. “Being involved in many things has been one of the most beneficial things for me, and has set me up to be involved in my community.”

Sorrell has left her mark here on Northern’s community, and many can look back on the memories that they have made and continue to make with her.

“In the three years I have known [Sorrell] she has gone from quiet, introverted, and reluctant to come and speak with me to more outgoing and willing to bring up issues of concern,” principal Danny Guilfort said.
