Golf Captain Leaves Lasting Impact on his Team

Three years of hard work and dedication to the game leads to something bigger on Northern’s golf team. A strong leader can make the difference between having a good season and a bad one. A good leader will and can keep the team chemistry at a high level. The Northern golf team this year has loved having Kedan Whitt as their captain, along with Zack Currin and Ben Ervin.

Since coming to Northern, Whitt has made a tremendous difference to the overall performance of the team.

“Having a strong team relationship with everyone on and off the course is just amazing, it is almost like a brotherhood,” senior Zack Currin said.

“Kedan has shown the ability to lead when asked to,” Northern golf coach Kevin Wicker said. “He knows how I like to coach and the way to keep the team focused. Also, he is not afraid to challenge others to be a better.”

For the freshmen on the team, the captains help them to adjust to high school life and being part of the team.

“[Whitt] has helped me a lot since coming to Northern this year,” freshman Tanner Dickerson said. “He is just a really funny person and a cool person to hang out with away from golf.”

Over the years, there have been a lot of memories made, and the people that have been closest will miss him sincerely.

“I will miss his strive to be a better person and a better golfer,” Currin said.

With the assistance of co-captain, Zack Currin, Whitt looks forward to finishing off another great golf season.

“It is sad that I only have a few months left with my best friends but I am also very excited to see [sophomores] Bryce and Jake step up and lead when I leave,” Whitt said.

Whitt has contributed a lot to the team over the years and all the players and coaching staff will miss him tremendously.
