Netflix Original Returns for Season 2
Netflix originals have started becoming more and more popular, with the release of new series and the return of older shows which have had new seasons added to Netflix. One show in particular released its second season on March 29. On My Block has returned for another season after its first season, which came out on Netflix in March of 2018, generated much success and became popular with many Netflix viewers.
On My Block is a comedy-drama that follows the life of four teenage friends who live in a South Central Los Angeles neighborhood called “Freeridge,” which has a predominantly black and hispanic community. The neighborhood is divided by two separate gangs which tend to come into conflict often, the “Santos” and the “Prophets.” The friends work together to figure out how to survive in their crime and drug infested neighborhood, while also learning about the importance of family and friendship.
Season two picks up right where season one’s final cliffhanger left off. During the last episode of season one a Prophet gang member shoots two of the show’s main characters at a quinceanera and the first minutes of season two’s first episode describe the aftermath. Season two is even more intense than season one and causes the main characters’ friendships as well as family relationships to be tested in new ways.
On My Block season two stars Jason Genao (Ruby Martinez), Sierra Capri (Monse Finnie), Diego Tinoco (Cesar Diaz), and Brett Gray (Jamal Turner) along with Jessica Garcia, Danny Ramirez, and Peggy Blow. The second season has 10 episodes, just like the first season, and ends on yet another cliffhanger which has already caused fans to wonder when season three will be released, which is still undetermined.
On My Block season two is recommended for anyone who already watched the first season or enjoys watching coming-of-age fiction or comedy-dramas. It is especially recommened for tennagers because the main characters are teenagers, so they will be able to relate to it the most. On My Block season two can be watched on Netflix only.
