Swim Team Dives into Exciting New Season

Fall sports are coming to an end and winter sports are starting up with the first practice starting October 30th and swim is looking to have another stellar season Coach Postage stepped down and the team had to find a new coach.

Coach Hribar, last year’s assistant, had to step up and be the leader at our team meetings and take over until new coach Blake Williams arrived.

Now with a new coach here, this could bring changes to practice with a different energy to benefit the team. This can change the way Northern swim can change.

“Having a new coach is always a learning curve for both me as an assistant coach and for the athletes,” assistant coach Hannah Hribar said. “I think it will be a great season and the kids will be excited.”

This season has a lot of newcomers and new swimmers are excited to help the team complete their goals. Returners knew the expectations from coach Postage, but have to learn the way Coach Blake will change the team. The swimmers are setting goals and trying to get better. “[One goal that I have is] on getting faster and working hard to help the team do better,” junior Owen Powell said.

Northern swim has lots of fun at practice and enjoys swimming for the school. It takes a lot of preparation to face teams that are very competitive.

Everyone gets excited for the new season and is looking forward to the new season. It is a way to get better and have a fresh start. “Being able to help my technique and learn more to help my events,” junior Dalton Husketh said.

The new coach is going to affect the swimmers and is going to help them in the best way possible and adjust to swimming under a new coach.

“ I hope it is easy to adjust to his coaching style and is a fun person to be around,” junior Adam Swain said.

With the season starting new swimmers are not used to the rules set last season to the returners, swimmers have to get used to the new coaching style.

“[He] brings new energy to the team, he has a lot of background [knowledge] in swimming he will probably work us harder,” senior Christiana Vannasing said.

The season is just starting the knights want a repeat season and have swimmers reach the expectations of the new season.
