New Entertainment-Based Golf Driving Range Exceeds Expectations

Drive Shack is an entertainment-based golf driving range, which offers three floors of bars, arcades and eating areas. The entertainment golf industry is quickly increasing with the other main competitor “Top Golf”.

Drive Shack has an event for every skill level, from beginner to experienced golfers. In each hitting bay is every type of club, from driver to a wedge. Your group can play up to three different types of games, including “Monster Hunt,” which is a target based game where you hit at virtual monsters on the T.V in your bay. This game seems to be a fan favorite as multiple groups were playing when I visited.

The second game is called “Shackjack” and is a card game. The main goal of “Shackjack” is to aim at playing cards that would add up to or equal 21. At Drive Shack you can also play a regular round of golf. You can play up to six courses, from the legendary St. Andrews to the PGA National. During the round you will use yardages presented by the display and reference points on the range itself.

The last option you can choose is the old fashion driving range, if you want to improve your game. Each game is powered by state of the art “Trackman” that can track your swing speed, ball speed and the distance that you hit each time.

The food at Drive Shack is also above average in my opinion. The menu had just enough choices for everyone, each at a reasonable price. Each meal costs an average of 11 dollars and alcoholic drinks at 5 dollars. The menu items had a sufficient serving size and value to them.

The facility itself was impressive to say the least. Located on the first floor was employees greeting you and a front desk with more than plenty attending to it. To the left was a massive bar with multiple TVs. On the second floor was an arcade area with a shuffle board, the third level was another bar with rooftop seating overlooking the driving range. The facility was completely clean and smelt great

Overall my experience with Drive Shack succeeded my expectations. The group spent just 24 dollars for over five hours hitting balls. The more people that you attend Drive Shack with, the cheaper it is as you split the fee. The price for bays depend on which hour and day you visit. I would recommend Drive Shack for mostly anyone, even if you don't enjoy the game of golf.
