Chalkboards have been around for over 200 years now. They were a great invention and were really important to the way teachers taught, and the way students learned. Unfortunately, like all great inventions, something had to take it over, and thus the whiteboard was created.
The whiteboard is one of the best work related inventions of all time. It is used all over the world in all types of professional environments environments. It can be used in schools to teach, offices to show major profits, and even in peoples’ rooms for fun. While some might argue that chalkboards can be used for the exact same things, the chalkboard just does not compare to the genius of the whiteboard.
The boards do have a lot of similarities between them though like multiple colors, the ability to write and erase with ease, and being able to be used in all types of work related or creative spaces. The main difference between the two though, is the sound. Writing on a chalkboard creates a terrible and eerie sound that almost makes your ears bleed. When you have a rude teacher or an annoying friend that likes to pick at your nerves, it becomes a nuisance when they purposely scratch the board in order to mess with you.
Another big difference is the use of markers as the writing utensil. While chalk can be cool and fun to write and draw with sometimes, it gets all over you hands and creates a big mess. Unless you wipe your hand across the whiteboard it should not gets on your hands and create any type of mess. Also, there are multiple ways to clean the whiteboards. Unlike the chalkboard where you are forced to use the eraser to erase the board, you can clean a whiteboard with paper towels, tissues, an eraser, and even your finger. If you want to get really fancy, you can even get the spray to really clean the board off.
Chalkboards were most definitely a revolutionary invention to the world and changed a lot in schools and workplaces and it is not that they are obsolete or unneeded in the world, it is simply that whiteboards are an upgrade to the chalkboards. If you like the aesthetic of what a chalkboard comes with then that is great but if cleanliness, efficiency, and silence is more your style then choose the whiteboard.
