College Basketball is Back and it is Electric as Ever

College basketball is underway and the four teams have already battled at the start of the season. With Duke facing Kansas winning with a score of 68 to 66 at the State Farm classic, Michigan State losing to Kentucky 69 to 62, and later kentucky losing to unranked Evansville. College hoops has officially started, and teams are fighting to stay on top.

At the number one spot, the Duke Blue Devils started with a preseason rank of number four and have worked up to number one overall heading into the 2k Empire classic in New york facing California. In the wake of Duke’s top players Zion Williamson leaving Tre Jones stepped up and has had high scoring games and leading the team with assist, including a career high of 31 points. The Blue Devils have a long season ahead of them with the ACC being a powerhouse this season.

At the number two spot, Louisville has proved they can be a top team once again after a hard fall with the NCAA after coach Rick Patino was fired in 2017 and the team went seasons without being ranked. Coach Chris Mack has to prove he can be a great coach for a top five team all season. The Cardinals have to prove they can compete with a great scorer Jordan Nwora averaging 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and one assist per game.

At the number three spot: North Carolina Tar Heels. The Tar Heels have started off great with big games by freshman point guard Cole Anthony with a 34 point game in the season opener for Carolina. Carolina has to face the power of the ACC, with top teams like Duke and Louisville leading in the country. The Heels have work to do to be number one in the country.

The number four spot is Michigan State; The Spartans had a tough start losing to Kentucky in the first regular season game. With a 2-1 start everyone believes they should not be a top four team, MSU has amazing talent with returning point guard Cassius Winston. Winston has had huge games averaging 17.5 points and 6.8 assist per game. The Spartans were upset in the final four last season and look to repeat making it to the big dance.

College basketball is here, and teams have to battle from start to finish to make it into March madness. There are lots of games to be played and people get to see what teams end out on top.
