Mack Brown's Return Will Change UNC Football

In the last decade the only college football team that has been consistently successful is the NC State Wolfpack. There is a trade off with that though, considering UNC and Duke are much more successful in basketball, but this norm could be changing as we enter a new decade.

Mack Brown, who is a very experienced coach has returned to the UNC football program this year. He has coached at a variety of Division 1 schools, his most notable stint was when he won a national championship with the University of Texas at Austin.

UNC had a somewhat successful season, achieving a 6-6 record which allows them to be bowl eligible for the first time in four years. However, Duke and NC State have both had rough seasons, with Duke starting the season off at 4-2 and ending at 5-7, as they lost five straight games. NC State finished the season at 4-8 as they lost six straight games including their last game in which they got blown out by UNC.

With both Duke and NC State seasons ending sooner than expected, they will now explore making changes to the coaching staff. On the other hand, UNC is thriving right now as they prepare to recruit nationally ranked players to play for their school.

Both Duke and NC State’s football coaches have been at the school for a decent amount of time, NC State has recently fired their defensive coordinator, but there have been no recent changes in Duke's program. Mack Brown’s coaching ability will not change just UNC’s performance, but also the atmosphere of the team on and off the field. He is a well respected individual in the college football world and has big expectations as he will lead this UNC team in the upcoming years to more bowls, but possibly the Top 10 rankings to get them to the college football playoff.
