Kobe Bryant's Death Affects Everyone

Some say legends never die, but on January 26, 2020 Kobe Bryant passed away, along with eight others. This tragic helicopter accident was an upsetting moment that affected the sports community and the world. Even people who did not keep up with basketball understood what Bryant did for not only sports but for the community as well.

“Bryant showed me what it means to give it your all and stay dedicated to a sport and give one hundred percent effort,” junior Adam Swain said.

It is hard to believe when someone passes away; it hurts and you do not want it to be true. You have to hope for the best and face what happened.

"I originally thought that it was fake and then I found out it was real. I was just thinking about all the games I watched him play,” senior Andrew Coburn said.

When someone important passes away you start to reminisce about the great memories that were created. Bryant, being a hall of fame basketball player, had years of great games and big time moments throughout his 20 year career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“My favorite memory of [Bryant's] career was when he scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors on January 22, 2006,” junior Dawson Wilson said.

Bryant has been considered a legend for a long enough time that even older generations understand his impact as a person. They have seen his growth as an athlete and as an

inspiration to others.

“Being able to see him play in the younger years of his career and seeing him play recently [Bryant's death] is just devastating,” English teacher Destiny Clarke said.

Bryant was an inspiration for people of all ages among the world, and for those who were basketball fans and Lakers fans, the news of his death may affect people differently.

“Being a basketball fan, Bryant's Death was hard to understand and was a sad day for me,” junior Jacob Haigler said.

The death of Kobe Bryant was a sad day for the whole world. It was devastating for the sports community, for those who looked to Bryant as an inspiration, and it was a day you would want to forget.
