College: To go or not to go?

When I first found out what college was, I knew right then and there that I wanted to go. Education has always been very important to me. I have always wanted to go to college, but what I did not know was the amount of work that was needed to get into college, let alone to get a scholarship, would be even harder.

While not everyone likes the idea of continuing education after high school, some do want to attend some form of college. Whether it be a four-year college like UNC, Duke, or State; or going the two-year route with a community college, as in ones like Durham Tech. These schools look great on resumes for some jobs, depending on what type of job you are looking into.

However, for the people that do not think that college is the place for them, it is quite ok. Not every job requires you to have a college degree . Some jobs that involve little to no college education are, for example: plumbers and technicians (these workers do not have to have any education to start, however there are classes you can take in college for it), even being a waitress or waiter.

These are jobs that not everyone wants to do, but they are jobs that have to be done in society. In fact, ever since the leap of enrolling in colleges, parents wanted their kids to go to college and influenced them to do so. That started in roughly in 1999, and the jobs that do not require further education are actually paying more to their workers due to society needing them, while others are away in college, unable to help society in the time being.

Whether you think that college is for you or not, always follow what you want to do. But you must remember that you have to work for what you want in this world, because nobody is going to give you anything without you establishing effort.
