Baseball gears up for a new season

With the start-up of spring sports, one of the most common sports young men play is baseball, the tryouts were on the 13th of February. While the past few seasons have been rough for the Northern baseball team there is a glimmer of hope for this year’s team.

With the majority of the team being younger and having a certain mindset, meaning that the players are listening to the coaches and taking the team serious. The team is in a place where they can use the time they have to their advantage. Head Coach Tardieu has instilled the players with a phrase to live by on or off of the field with the players a new phrase to live by on or off the field ; ICE (Integrity, communication, and effort).

In previous years (2016-2017 and 2017-2018) there were a total of 10 games won on the Northern Knights baseball team. However, with this new energy the varsity team is still being strongly under looked because of the past two seasons. There are not many people that believe that it can get better from where it is at.

“This is what we want to happen, we [want to] show people not to look at us and doubt us,” sophomore Caleb Greene said. “We are the team that is going to push forward. We have an opportunity to show that we can become better than what is expected of us.”

This season begins on the 25th of February with a couple scrimmages and then going fully into a 27 game schedule with the new team.

“I'm about as confident as ever.”junior Andrew Coburn said. I truly think we have a real shot.”
